Tour C: Mass Timber Construction Site Tours in the GTA - Sold Out!

  • George Brown College 51 Dockside Drive Toronto, ON, M5A 1B6 Canada (map)

Overview

Participants on this tour will meet at George Brown College and proceed on foot to the first stop on the tour, T3 Bayside, a 10-storey mass timber building on Toronto’s waterfront and the newest addition to Hines' innovative T3 ("Timber, Transit, Technology") series of modern timber workplaces. Afterward, participants will return to the College for lunch, and then proceed by bus to the University of Toronto, where two new mass timber buildings are under construction. Once on campus, the tour will divide into two smaller groups. One group will proceed the Academic Wood Tower, which, at 14 storeys and 77 metres high, will be the tallest mass timber structure in Canada. The other group will proceed to the Lawson Centre for Sustainability, a 4-storey mass timber student residence being built for Trinity College. After the first round of tours, the groups will trade places to visit the other project. Following these two tours, the group will return to George Brown College.

NOTE: Participants will be required to bring and wear their own CSA approved safety footwear that covers the ankle (at least 6” tall). All other PPE (hard hat, high visibility vest, safety eyewear) will be provided. The tour will also involve climbing stairs and walking, sometimes over uneven ground, so participants are asked to make sure they are physically able to participate before registering.
